FRSC to commence issuance of class ‘A’ driving license, others



FEDERAL Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Command is to embark on state-wide issuance of class ‘A’ driving license, compulsory registration of tricycle and motorcycle drivers by October this year.

The disclosure was made at the FRSC state command by the Sector Commander,  Andrew Kumapayi during a courtesy call on the state Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr Charles Nworji. He noted that the compulsory plate number registration exercise covered both the commercial tricyclists and motorcyclists operating in the state and advised them to register at properly designated places.

The commander, who urged assistance of the agency in grass root mobilization and sensitization of the tricyclists and motorists to ensure success of the exercise, stated that the exercise would have started this month but was shifted to October.  He opined that most tricycle drivers in the state do not have driver’s license and other permits license.

Mr Kumapayi, who further said that the command is liaising with the state Ministry of Transport to ensure that the tricycle drivers in the state were dully registered.  He added that  the command has produced a comprehensive checklist of the tricycle and the motorcycle drivers in the state and commended the robust relationship between NOA and FRSC in the country over the years.

Responding, the state Director of NOA, Charles Nkwoji pledged the support of his agency in ensuring that FRSC programmes in the state succeeded, commending the command for extending the exercise from August to October for proper sensitization of the motorcycle and tricycle operators on the impending exercise.

Mr Nkwoji stated that his agency would designate special staff to oversee the implementation of the exercise especially in urban centres in the state and commended the command for the harmonious relationship which has lasted between the two establishments for many years.
