Community lauds Anambra lawmaker



AWKA North representative at the Anambra State House of Assembly, John Nwokoye has received glowing encomiums from Amanuke community in Awka North, for his great impact just few months as a legislator.

Speaking on the reason for the occasion, the DG, More Money Campaign Organisation, ANC Onwelukwue, stated, “representation is about the welfare of the people. From the 81 beneficiaries of the Health-care Insurance package to the distribution of thousands of drugs across the Primary Health Centers in Awka North, the legislator is prioritising health through his actions.

Addressing ndi Amunike, Nwokoye stated that what he’s doing is the essence of representation.“We need proper health care. I will continue to do my best and will not relent in ensuring that our people get access to adequate health care”, he assured

The lawmaker revealed that Amanuke has a special place in his heart because aside his ward in Achalla, the community gave him the highest votes during his election. He noted the urgent need for construction of the road linking Amanuke to Urum, and other roads like that in the constituency.

In his remark, Amanuke community President General (PG), who is also the chairman of all the PG’s in Awka North, Nnamdi Maduka said, Nwokoye has surprised everyone in Awka North with his quality leadership style.

“When you came for campaign in Amanuke, your kind of campaign was different. All the PG’s called you and other contestants and when it was time for you to speak, you addressed them with courage.  All that you said on that day, you have started doing them,” he declared.

Adding, “when the righteous is in power the people rejoice. I know what this medication costs because I have been in the medical line for 30 years. As we voted you then, we shall double it when you come again after four years. I know those who will go to the house and be dormant but just two months, you have changed the narrative,” he concluded.

Highlights of the event were the administration of drugs by Nwokoye to a child,  scholarship award and skill acquisition slots given to two outstanding daughters of the community.

Present at the event include; Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the governor on Health Matters, Kate Edozieh, ANC Onwelukwue,  coordinator of his support group; Sam Obi, Nnamdi Maduka, Matron of the Health Centre amongst other.
