Agency renovates Mkpunando-Otu Aguleri Health Centre

ANAMBRA State Community and Social Development Agency, recently had an agreement with Mkpunando- Otu Aguleri, in funding its dilapidated community health centre.

Mkpunando-Otu Aguleri is a riverine community located by the bank of Omambala River in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State which is accessible by canoe, boat or pontoon across the river through Igbakwu in Ayamelum Local Government Area.

The community health centre, which is a massive project had dilapidated over the years with leaking roofs, broken ceilings, windows and rooms overgrown with weeds. The total worth of renovating the dilapidated structure is N8.9 million.

Speaking during the ceremony, the General Manager of the Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency, CSDA, Chudi Mojekwu, announced that the community would provide 10% of the fund amounting to over #892,000 naira in executing the job.

While handing over a cheque of N2.409 million representing 30% of the total sum amount to the committee incharge of the renovation, Mr Muojekwu urged for transparent utilization of the fund. He said the balance would be provided in instalments of 50% and 20% until the completion of the project.

The traditional ruler of Mkpunando-Otu Aguleri, Igwe Alex Edozieuno, expressed joy over the project and described the project as an important task to the benefits of the citizens. He pledged to support the successful completion of the project.

The chairman of the Community Project Management Committee, Stephen Edochie promised to ensure effective job implementation of the project.

Also speaking, the community health worker in the centre, Theresa Oforka, said that the dilapidated structure created so many health challenges to the community. She expressed happiness over the renovation and thanked the government for their assistance.

The Speaker of Ojiani Ruling Council, Mkpunando-Otu, Chief Onyeaka Ejimofor, appreciated the government for their efforts in the community.
