WHO endorses Anambra healthcare model

WORLD Health Organisation (WHO) has endorsed Anambra healthcare templates under the Gov. Willie Obaino-led administration.

The global health watchdog made the endorsement in Awka through its Coordinator for Anambra State, Dr. Chukwumuanya Igboekwu, while donating some office equipment valued at over one million of naira to Anambra State Ministry of Health, adding that the present healthcare templates are responsive and effective, from its primary to tertiary spheres.

According to Igboekwu,  the items which were supplied by WHO with funding from European Union (EU) are meant to further strengthen Anambra State healthcare system and afford more people with efficient service.

Speaking while taking delivery of the items on behalf of Gov. Obiano, Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpalla, thanked WHO and EU for their various interventions in Anambra State over time, promising that the

the equipment will be put to best use in strengthening healthcare along the six basic building blocks which are service delivery, availability of essential medications, governance and leadership, health financing, health information management and human resources.

According to Okpalla, Anambra State will always respect WHO and EU as technical partners in strengthening the blocks to consolidate on gains already made in providing functional healthcare system.

He also stated that Anambra State is poised to becoming a pacesetter for other states in Nigeria in healthcare financing.
