WHAT was the situation in the sector in 1991?

  The culture and Tourism Industry in Anambra State appears not to  have recorded much progress since 1991, except for hotels and restaurants that could now be seen at every corner of the state, but tourism and culture goes beyond hotel business. The reason is mainly due to lack of planning by both the government and the private sector.

How is it today in Anambra State?

The situation today has improved a little but it is still marred by insecurity. Tourism cannot thrive in the midst of insecurity. Promotion of culture is still focused mainly on masquerade performance. Areas such as fine art, folk music, and cultural preservation still do not receive sufficient attention.

Why is it as it is today?

The present situation will lead to an extinction of some core aspects of our culture and near collapse of our tourism industry.

How do you want it to be tomorrow?

I wish to see an improved culture and tourism climate in Anambra State. This will involve better planning and encouraging good cultural practices and art exhibitions. Investors in the tourism industry should also look beyond hotel business while investing.
