No anti-Buhari protest in Japan – Presidency

CONTRARY to social media reports of harassment of President Muhammadu Buhari on his arrival in Japan by people protesting under the aegis of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) yesterday, Presidency has dismissed the claim as mere concoctions.

Special Adviser to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, stated this in a release issued in Abuja.

According to him, IPoB or any other group did not confront Buhari on his arrival at Yokohama, Japan – and since then.

“Nigerians at home and in Diaspora are urged to disregard concocted stories, backed with spurious visuals, of any protest or harassment of the President and his team. It is the stock-in-trade of hate mongers, who do not realise that the rest of Nigerians have left them far behind,” Adeshina said.

However, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB),yesterday ,claimed that President Buhari was yet to arrive in Japan, 24 hours after departing Nigeria.

Calling on Nigerians to disregard pictures purporting Buhari’s arrival in Japan, IPoB refuted them as photo shopped hoax.

It will be recalled that Buhari departed Nigeria for Japan on Sunday to participate in the Seventh Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD7) holding in the City of Yokohama, beginning tomorrow to end August 30.
