Dortmund: I will try everything to convince Havertz – Reus

BORUSSIA Dortmund captain, Marco Reus has revealed he will do all he can to bring talented playmaker, Kai Havertz to the club.

Bayer Leverkusen prodigy, Kai Havertz is considered to be one of the most highly rated attacking players in Europe. A number of big clubs including Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester City, Barcelona and Real Madrid have been linked with a move for the 20 year old.

And Marco Reus, who played a key role in convincing Julian Brandt to leave Bayer Leverkusen for Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer, now wants to persuade Havertz to move to the Westfalenstadion.

Reus told Sport1 (H/T: Goal), “I will try everything to guide him to Dortmund. I will try my best just as I did it with Julian Brandt. And now with Julian I have an ally who knows him very well. So let’s see what happens.”

While Reus would like to see Havertz join him at Dortmund, he has also admitted that he doesn’t know if the club will be able to afford him. Mats Hummels is currently Borussia Dortmund’s most expensive signing at 30.5 million euros. And with so many of the world’s biggest clubs looking to sign Havertz, he will cost close to three times the amount Borussia Dortmund paid to sign Hummels.

Such a scenario is unlikely, unless Borussia Dortmund decide to sell Jadon Sancho and replace him with Havertz.

If the move does come to fruition, Havertz would certainly improve the Black and Yellows’ already fearsome forward line. Havertz is under contract at Bayer Leverkusen until 2022, but it is quite likely that he will be on the move next summer.

Reus and Havertz are currently together in the Germany squad, but will face off in ten days time, when Borussia Dortmund host Bayer Leverkusen on Matchday 04 of the Bundesliga season.
