Neymar did everything he could to return – Suarez



LUIS Suarez says Neymar did everything he could to return to Barcelona this summer, as the Brazil superstar faces another season at Paris Saint-Germain.

Twelve months after walking out of Camp Nou in a world record £200million transfer, Neymar was desperate to reunite with close pals, Suarez and Lionel Messi once again.

However, following the close of the summer transfer window, he remains at the Parc des Princes, with Barcelona chiefs having failed to get close to meeting PSG’s demands to land his transfer.

Despite negotiations between the two sides in the final week of the window – with a number of Barcelona players, including Ivan Rakitic and Ousmane Dembele – being offered, no switch could be fixed, with PSG standing firm and Barca, ultimately, coming up well short of what was necessary.

Suarez has revealed how the all-South American front trio were in touch during the early throes of summer, as Neymar was sought to secure his return.

“We were speaking [in the group] from time to time, but not so much recently,” the 32-year-old explained, speaking to Fox Sports.

“Now a little bit more because it’s calmed down. It’s been difficult because Ney was going through a complicated moment so we wanted to respect his time and space.”

Neymar departed Barcelona in 2017, joining PSG in his quest to win the Ballon d’Or, believing that he wouldn’t be able to while in Messi’s shadow.

Suarez and Messi both played a big part in the club’s push to bring him back this summer.

And the Uruguayan insists that, had he had his way, the Brazilian would never have departed.
