S’East govs restrain movement of cattle across communities

WORRIED by the activities of  herdsmen in the zone, the governors of South East geopolitical zone have banned foot  movement of cattle and herdsmen with weapons across farmlands, and from one community to the other within the region.

In a communiqué issued at the end of their meeting, the governors said that they would launch  a joint air operation to flush bandits from all forests in the region .

The governors said they would seek for a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari and all the Service Chiefs on the security situation in the South East region.

They commended Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi  for being the first to  set up forest guards and encouraged other states in the region to do  same.

A joint security committee headed by retired Major-General Abel Obi Umahi was also inaugurated by the South East Governors Forum.
