Community leader of Umuopu , Igbo-Eze North Local Government area of Enugu State, Owelle Ejikeme has urged the members of the community ‘s vigilante group to be committed and diplomatic in crime control.
He made the call during the inauguration of new members of the vigilante at Umuopu community.
Ejikeme also commended the state governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his efforts toward tackling insecurity which the state has witnessed recently.
Over 50 men had been recruited into the neighborhood watch in the community.
Ejikeme, who is also the Senior Special Assistant, on security to Igbo-Eze North Local Government Chairman, revealed that an arrangement has been made with the police to train and retrain neighborhood watch members on security related matters..
“I am sure that all of you will be committed concerning the security of our people. You have to be dedicated in delivering your duties, because our community is very close to the boundary with Benue State where people from other states can enter at any point in time.
“I am making arrangement with the Nigerian police to come and train you on intelligence community policing and other areas that will help you to keep security of lives and property tight”..
Mr Mama Simon the community neighborhood watch chairman of Umuopu community, praised Owelle’s devotedness to reform the security of the community and local government area and also pointed out their achievements through the security intellect of Owelle.
