IFAD-VCDP hold orientation for new Eas, enumerators

Federal Government of Nigeria and the Anambra State Government, in collaboration with the International Fund for Agricultural Development, IFAD-VCDP, have held orientation for  the newly recruited extension agents for the Additional Financing of the Value Chain Development Programme,  VCDP.

The orientation was held at the Agricultural Development Programme (ADP) complex,  Ministry of Agriculture,  Awka.

In an opening remark,  the permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture,  Mrs. Keri-uzor Stepheny Nneka highlighted the high performance of the Value chain programme in the state which included effective extension services that has earned the programme a second phase, as well as additional local government from the donor agency, and this has given rise to the recruitment of more extension agents to cover for the new LGAs of the Programme.

Mrs. Keri-uzor enjoined them to embrace their work with every diligence as their work requires lots of practical teaches for the farmers to bring in the best in the agric sector of the state.

The Permanent Secretary while handing over award of excellence to the best performing Eas from the participating local governments, urged them to be consistent and diligent in their duties to making farmers do better in their farming business.

Also speaking,  the Programme Manager, ADP Awka,  Mr. Jude Nwankwo, who  stated that the value chain Programme has magnificently succeeded in many aspects of the rice and cassava value chain and is still succeeding, reminded the newly recruited AEs to ensure the light of success does not go out in their time.

State Programme Coordinator of VCDP,  Mr. Nnamdi N. Agwuncha, represented by the Procurement Officer,  Mrs. Chika Agwarangbo, advised the new EAs to ensure they carry out their duties effectively as low performance will never be entertained.

She urged them to be diligent, efficient and punctual to work to make for quality job delivery.

One of the newly recruited EAs,  Mr Ikechukwu Ozuegbu, who expressed his joy for having come out of the tussle for job searching,  more so, getting a job that will line him in the agric sector, pledged to work diligently to the sustenance of the first position the VCDP programme has maintained among other states.

The orientation exercise featured paper presentations by resource persons and presentation of award to best performing Extension Agents/Enumerators from the participating LGAs.
