A GROUP of Igbo intellectuals and professionals under the aegis of Nzuko Umunna, has thrown their weight behind Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, lauding his administration for its numerous feats, particularly in the area of rural development.

The group made this commendation on Tuesday, during a courtesy call on Gov. Obiano at Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, to round off their two-day tour of different completed and ongoing government projects in Anambra, stating that he has transformed the state as a model of peace and good governance  from which his successors can continue to build until Anambra becomes first on every parameter of development.

Speaking after a meeting with Gov. Obiano in camera, leader of the group, Chief Patrick Chidolue explained that their visit in Anambra State is necessitated by devotion to fast-tracked collective development and socio-economic integration of ndi Igbo generally, adding that they are organising a South East retreat in Ebonyi State this year.

According to him, Nzuko Umunna seeks to fashion out an economic blueprint that may pivot Igbo development for at least 50 years, disclosing that their study and findings ranks Gov. Obiano top among other governors of South East, particularly his akulueuno investment agenda – urging other states to emulate him.

“We have equally noted with admiration your massive investment in education and human capital development, as well as the reforms and infrastructural transformation of the justice system. Importantly, we are impressed with your special attention to rural development and urban renewal.” Chidolue said.

Pledging to always support and partner the state government, Chidolue listed some legacy performances that stand Gov. Obiano apart to include the Umueri Airport project, ongoing International Conference Centre and human capital development initiatives among others.

It will be recalled that Nzuko Umunna is an Igbo think-tank comprising upwardly mobile young men and women who have excelled in their various fields of endeavour.
