Kenya, Cameroon to bid for continental Olympic volleyball qualifiers

KENYA and Cameroon are jostling over bidding rights for the women’s Africa volleyball qualifiers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. The two countries have each presented bids to Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB), eyeing to stage the championships which will run from Jan. 6-12, 2020.

CAVB president Amr Elwani said six teams – three men and three women – have confirmed participation with more expected to send in their requests before the deadline in December.

Egypt, Tunisia and Cameroon have registered for the men’s qualifiers, with Kenya, Nigeria and Cameroon for the women’s tournaments. Kenya has put in a bid worth 6.5 million shillings (65,000 U.S. dollars) to the CAVB to stage the women’s final qualifiers.
