ANAMBRA State Government has intensified massive rehabilitation of failed sections of Amawbia-Nise-Agulu federal road.

Commissioner for Works, Marcel Ifejiofor, noted that some sections got badly damaged due to heavy collection of floodwaters from drainages outside Amawbia.

“This particular section was so bad that Gov. Willie Obiano on seeing pains of ndi Anambra, who ply the road, directed that we find permanent solution to the problem.”

The Works’ Commissioner re-assured that the quality of work being carried out by contractors would solve the problem once and for all.

“As you can see, there is no more water on the road. The water is discharging directly into a culvert across the road.

“We have created as much as three culverts to take water into the natural discharge channel recently cleared by government at  Nise through the back of Governor’s Lodge.”

Project Manager of the construction firm, Jacob Enaine promised that the company would complete the project as scheduled.

He said that they were working day and night to ensure that the road would be delivered in few days’ time because of its busy nature.

A commercial bus driver, Mr Joseph Okoye commended efforts of the governor in stabilising the road.

He said that the intervention was a huge relief to them as the long queues that they always witness on that particular section was gradually disappearing.
