In Oyo, community celebrates twins’ festival

Igbo-ora, one of the towns that make up Ibarapa land in Oyo State, at the weekend, played host to people from all walks of life for this year’s edition of World Twins fFstival .

  Despite the downpour, Methodist Grammar School playground, venue of the festival was a sight to behold with over 600 sets of twins in attendance.

  In his welcome address, the Olu of Igbo-ora, Oba Jimoh Titiloye implored the state government to make Igboora a tourist centre. Describing twins as special gifts, he said the town was noted for producing about 158 sets of twins per 1000 children born, adding that nearly every household in Igbo-ora has multiple births.

   Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, who was represented by Dr. Saubana Muraina, member of the House of Representatives promised to encourage and promote tourism in Oyo State.

  The Alaafin of Oyo,Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, in his remarks, advised people to eat more of local delicacies as they are nourishing and also responsible for the high production of twins in Igbo-o
