MANAGING Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra
Newspaper and Printing Corporation, Publishers of National Light Newspapers,
Sir Chuka Nnabuife has called on the labour leaders in the corporation to work
towards uplifting the status of the office by being champions of excellence.
Sir Nnabuife, who
made the call when the newly elected executive of National Union of Printing,
Publishing and Paper Products Workers (NUPPPPROW), paid him a courtesy visit in
his office, congratulated them and also
stressed the need for harmonious relationship between workers and management.
He urged them to
understand that the most important and reasonable thing is that any worker in
Anambra Newspaper and Printing Corporation should support the organisation and work hard, stressing that
their efforts have been challenging from the beginning but the Government of
Anambra State under the leadership of Governor William Obiano has made a
tremendous effort to ensure the welfare of the workers.
“Since June,
2017 when His Excellency, Governor William Obiano initiated this idea and
eventually paid entirely all the outstanding money; which is both the 26 years
accumulated gratuity and pension of our
retired workers that have been not been paid over the years. I don’t
know any state or any person or governor that has done that so far. I think he
is worthy of our appreciation. Secondly, unlike the previous administration in
this state, no person has paid as much as our pension in National Light as Governor
William Obiano has done. I think that is also worthy of our appreciation and
reciprocation by workers…”
“You stand now
illustriously among members of NUPPPPROW all over Nigeria, among practitioners
in the media industry to beat your chest as one of the most consistently paid
online and as at when due and the most outstanding state owned newspaper in
Nigeria. I don’t think it was like that before now…Therefore, every
practitioner here should exhibit unity every time for the growth of the organisation”.
He further said that
his desire was to run an organisation that would raise IGR whether they have a
new attention or not, adding that the desire of the organisation under his
watch is “a place where you come and see happiness both in the environment and
in everybody as well as when we do our work.
Senior Special
Assistant to the Governor Obiano on ANPC, Mrs Fanny Oguine in a vote of thanks, welcomed the members the exco
on board, noting that a cordial relationship has been established as they look
forward to actualizing their dreams. She also urged every hands to be on deck
for better improvement in the organization.
Earlier, the new
NUPPPPROW Chairperson, Mrs Chidiebere Joe-Angi, who led the delegation, said
the visit was aimed at familiarising
with the management of the organization. She declared the readiness of the new
exco members to cooperate with management to achieve more positive goals in the
corporation.
