MANCHESTER City are targeting highly-rated young Spanish midfielder Fabián Ruiz, who has been compared with current captain and club legend, David Silva.

That’s according to The Guardian, who claim Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are also interested in the midfielder’s signature.

Ruiz, who has played forty-five times for his club Napoli since joining in July 2018,  came through the youth academy at Real Betis and has recently picked up his first five senior caps for Spain after starring in their U21 Euros triumph. He was named Golden Player in the tournament in Italy over the summer.

Now, it’s reported that Pep Guardiola’s team sent scouts to watch Fabian Ruiz play for the Naples side in their Champions League game against Salzburg on yesterdayt.

David Silva is leaving the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season and although many tout Phil Foden as his natural heir, it’s not unlikely that Manchester City bosses may be considering alternative, and more experienced replacements.
