Board of Anambra State Local Government Service Commision,
led by the chairman, Peter Egenti has been on serious monitoring tour to clean
the system of ghost workers..
Speaking during the
visit to Ogbaru Local Government Area
Headquarters, Atani, and Dunukofia Local Government Area Headquarters, Ukpo,
the chairman said, there were waste pipes in the system. He added that a lot
are disobedient to their superiors, and commission, playing truancy, among
others, which is why the governor gave a
marching order to go round the local governments and normalise the system.
In his word, “the
commission has mobilised local teams in the local government to continue the
routine exercise so that staff will be serious with their duty.”
Transition Chairman,
Ogbaru Local Government, Arinzechukwu John Awogu said, it was a welcome
development to transform and sanitise the system.
He noted that the
state government cannot pay those who are unproductive in the system.
Head of Local
Government Administration, Ogbaru, Mrs Rita Chime Obuekwe thanked the chairman
of the commission, Dr Egenti for transforming the entire system of the local
government and doing justice given to him
by the governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano.
In addition,
Transition Committee Chairman, Dunukofia Local Government, Emeka Okonkwo,
welcomed the exercise, saying that with
the minimum wage, it is very stressful, but with the exercise, the state will
know those who are really working and advised the workers to always attend to
work regularly.
Head of Local
Government Administrator, Dunukofia, Felicia Nkechi Ogboloagha said that she
would help the workers to sit up and help the state government to know the
actual strength that forms the Dunukofia area, their budget and welfare.
A staff of
Dunukofia LGA from Department of Education, Mr Remigius Obeche encouraged the
state government to continue with the exercise, and apply such to the state .
