Flood ravages Mbanaobodo Ube-Uru Umudim Nnewi

OVER 75% of the houses in Mbanaobodo Ube-Uru Umudim Nnewi in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State are ravaged by flood along with Obi Uru Umudim  residence  and the building complex of former secretary to Nnewi North Local Government, Sir Augustine Adiekwe, who is facing a double gully erosion menace at the back of his main house.

   Augustine Adiekwe, to this end, said that he had personally spent huge sums of money to stop the flood from entering into his compound, but could not achieve more than erecting a high flood channel which gave them little solace.

  Sir Adiekwe took our correspondent to the back space in his house where gully erosion had dug alarming pit with torrential flood threat.

  He said that the flood emanated from neighbouring towns and villages which pass through Nnobi, Awka Etiti, Mbanaobodo-Ube-Uru-Umudim Nnewi across to Nnewi North Local Government to Mmili Ele Stream, in  Nnewi.

  According to him, the work sponsored by the member representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Local Government Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chris Azubogu, has been washed away by the flood.

 He called on Governor Willie Obiano to follow up the construction which his deputy, Dr Nkem Okeke witnessed on a visit to the area with the state’s environmental team recently.
