THE Community of Oko
in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State,Sunday, witnessed a
miraculous healing of a mad woman, Mary Okoye , who was alleged to have been
mad for about 14 years.
National Light spoke
to Ngozi Ezeobiagwu, a staff of Federal
Polytechnic, Oko, and a business woman, who
confirmed the story.
According to her, “I
came in contact with Mary two years ago when she came down to Oko. You know
being a mad woman, people will always shy away from her and even pursue her
whenever she comes near them.
She stays almost opposite my shop and gradually, she started
getting close to me. She will often come to me and ask for meal. So I formed it
as a habit to feed her even if it is a meal a day.
“Because she often
gets aggressive and attacks people but will always be calm around me, people
started thinking I was the one using her and bolder ones will always confront
me, accusing me. Humanly, I often get disturbed by those allegations but I
couldn’t help but continue.
“On this fateful
day, I got back from a business trip and came to my shop to wash off some of my
materials. Meanwhile, there is this boy by name Emenike from Abakakiliki who I
came in contact with some months ago. He would often come to my shop as I
instructed.
“On this said day, I
was here with this Mrs Mary discussing. You know that kind of chat with a mad person.
I just had to keep up with the discussion so she doesn’t get offended and feel
bad.
As we were talking, Emenike came in and in the course of our
discussion, we had to start praying for her and she regained her sanity and put
off the rags she was wearing which were about 30 in number. Right now, we have also returned her to her
place in Okpanam, Delta State,” she explained.
Students and staff
of Federal Polytechnic Oko, indigenes and well wishers expressed happiness over
the healing.
A source who
preferred anonymity expressed gratitude to God for the miracle. “I am very
grateful and happy for this testimony. Many a times, people would have killed
her by beating because of her misdoings at times.”
A student who just
gave his name as Ozor said, “this woman has been here since I came into
this school. She had troubled some of us, pursued some and done a lot of
horrible things. But today, those things are great testimonies. I just feel
good and bless God for he alone can do this.
Mrs Ngozi Kawado,
half sister to Mary while speaking to National Light said,” Mary has been away
from home for about 13 years. Am glad she is back home.
She was very small when her
father died after which she left home. And the issue has been a major
concern to us all. God bless Mrs Ngozi and her colleague for healing and
bringing Mary back.”
