A COMMUNITY in Isiagu, Awka South Local Government Area of
Anambra State, Chief Ben N. Ifeatu (Ide Isiagu), has lauded Governor Willie
Obiano for the massive facelift his administration has given to Awka capital
territory and other urban cities and rural areas in the state.
Ide Ifeatu, former
chairman of the old Awka LGA, made the commendation while appraising the
unprecedented achievements of the incumbent administration, especially in terms
of sustained security and widespread grassroots’ development through the
‘Community Choose Your Project’ initiative.
He noted that
N40million each had been disbursed to all the 179 communities across the state
under the first and second phases of the scheme with the third phase almost
taking off to the delight of the masses.
He also applauded
the on-going construction of an ultra-modern roundabout at Agulu-Ekwulobia Road
Junction, near the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, which has now reached advanced
stage of completion.
The community leader
remarked that the Obiano’s era had recorded tremendous strides in the infrastructural
advancement of the state, recounting the ‘Operation Light Up Anambra State’
which resulted in the provision of massive street lights covering almost the
entire landscape of the state, thereby promoting tight security, tourism and
night life throughout the state.
He requested that
the street light project be extended to Isiagu and Umuawulu communities, being
part of the Awka capital territory.
According to Chief
Ifeatu, “the generality of ndi Anambra at home and diaspora will forever
remember Governor Obiano as the most committed and foresighted leader, who
emancipated the entire hinterland through egalitarian distribution of dividends
of democracy with impressive people-oriented policies and programmes aimed at
taking the state to an enviable pedestal.”
