GOVERNMENT Technical Collage, Nkpor, in Idemili North Local
Government Area, Anambra State hs held her 2019 Interhouse sports competition.
The event which took
place at the school’s field amid large turnout of people aimed at enhancing the
psychomotor of students and helping them discover their other potentials, aside
from academics.

in Anambra State will continue to be model for others to emulate, while lauding
Nkpor Technical College for not relenting in ensuring that they count in this
noble task.
“The
impressions here are positive, everything is going well.”
On the laurels
schools and other sectors are winning for the state, Okeke stated, “I
would say it is product of the massive support Governor Willie Obiano gives to
the sectors. I want to appreciate the people’s governor and his team. In
education specifically, the laudable feats are clear. The input of the
Commissioner for Basic Education, Prof Kate Omenugha is commendable. It is a
collective effort and the impact is felt across all the basic education
(primary and secondary) levels in the state.
We are all seeing
the performances of the teachers and pupils. Teachers from schools in the state
won Best Teachers’ award again this year. The pupils are placing very high
performances in external exams such as; NECO and WAEC in the past five years.
This is a reflection of the positives from the efforts put-in by the teachers
with the support of government. We should work hard to maintain and improve on
the level so far attained.
The effectiveness of
the children in meeting with future expectations depend largely on the
foundation. It is no longer enough to hold certificates, beyond that, skills
acquisition and vocational training which technical schools offer, provide more
balance for their self reliance.”
The PPSSC boss
admonished parents and guardians to be very proactive in bringing up their
wards to compliment teachers’ efforts in ensuring that sound morals of the
children are not lost in exuberance, especially, the lure into social vices
like drug addiction and cultism that may truncate their future.
In her own
contribution, the Member in – Charge, PPPSC, Ogidi zone, Lady Ngozi Agbasimelo
lauded the GTC school administration for their efforts in taking the school to
the level it presently occupies.
“I must thank
the organisers of this event and equally commend the pupils for their
comportment. The level of competition amongst the various Houses here is
inspiring. It shows potential for other activities outside academics. They are
all important and should be nurtured for positive use.”
She added that GTC, Nkpor is one of the technical schools
that the commission is proud of.
“They have won
some awards for the state. I must tell you that any child posted to this school
has a very big advantage because it offers them opportunity to explore their
creative ingenuity. “
Adding; “when
we talk about education, especially in Anambra State, the governor has made
strong promise to make the state’s education world class standard. The students
must be nurtured to compete favourably with their rivals anywhere in the world.
I am particularly
happy that the governor has made a lot of interventions in this school.”
She challenged the
pupils to remain focused in making themselves available for things that promote
the image of the school and state as they pass through the system.
Earlier in his
address, the principal of the school, Gabriel Nwosu highlighted the importance
of sports in pupils overall development.
“Participation in sports plays
complimentary role of educational development of a child (psychomotor domain)
and it is never a hindrance to academic excellence, rather, it promotes
physical fitness, mental alertness and personal discipline.”
Okeke expressed deep
appreciations to the state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano for his interventions
which has made the feats achieved by the school so far, possible.
He noted that the
school has enjoyed supply of sports equipment , construction of 10 classroom
blocks, school and hostel perimeter fencing, provision of water borehole,
re-eqipment of the school laboratory, international workshops and teachers

Regina Pacis School world quiz competition feat, as well as GTC, Nkpor’s Best
Productive technical college in Anambra State’s Prize, including Best Creative teacher star Prize won by the
