ANAMBRA State Government has commended Life International
Hospital for providing world-class Modular Operation Theatre and Standard
Intensive Care Unit to complement efforts toward functional healthcare service
delivery.
“This is a welcome
development and gateway to strong healthcare system in the state,” Commissioner
for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala said.
He made the comment
while inaugurating the modular operation theatre and standard care unit at the
hospital in Awka.
Dr Okpala noted that
the hospital was inaugurated by Gov. Willie Obiano in 2O18.
The commissioner
praised the management of the hospital for the upgrade.
According to him,
Gov. Obiano’s emphasis has been on public private partnership in order to
provide Ndi Anambra with standard and functional healthcare services.
“Government has
created the enabling environment for people who are interested in public
private partnership in the state to invest in the healthcare sector.
“The project you see
here is a private venture, which actually demonstrates what government is
discussing about medical tourism in the state.
“It is a
purposefully built facility. I have passed through this facility; everything is
where it needs to be and this shows vision.
“The wards, private
wards depict what we are talking about; how healthcare facility needs to be.
So, the intensive care unit and modular operating unit are well-equipped.”
The commissioner
said that the hospital could deliver care to critical patients, who might need
the service because they could actually provide those cares.
He noted that the
hospital would also help to stop medical tourism outside Nigeria.
Chief Executive
Officer , Life Hospital, Joseph
Ikechebelu said the hospital was multi-specialist hospital with pioneering
strides in endoscopy, fertility management and other multi dimensional fields
of medical practice.
Prof. Ikechebelu
explained that the hospital started out with opening of a modular operation
theatre and standard intensive care unit that also supported by qualified
personnel.
“Modular
operating theatre reduces the risk of
surgical site infections, which is the second most common site of healthcare
associated infections that causes death by up 77 per cent, if occurs deep at
the site.
“Other advantages of
modular operation theatre are improved health and safety; there are minimal
site disruption-lesser disruption and noise produced in comparison with
traditional methods of operation theatre construction.
“No compromise on
quality-none of the compromises associated with bouncy floors, cavities, sharp
edges and others.
