Igwe Chibudom of Obosi in Idemili North Local Government
Area of Anambra State, the President General, Ikechukwu Okolo and some otherst
recentlywelcomed the Rotary District Governor of District 9142, Rotarian Sam
Uko, the Assistant Governor of Zone 7, Rotarian Dennis Ekemezie and other
Rotarians who paid him a royal visit to induct and decorate him as a Paul
Harris Fellow.
While speaking
during the visit, Rotarian Dennis Ekemezie said that the igwe as a Rotarian donated one thousand dollars to
the Rotary Foundation on which he deserves to be decorated. In his word,
“this year’s Rotary theme is Rotary
Connects the World which is also one of our reasons for coming to connect more
of the Obosi indigenes. It is a great privilege that you have given to us to be
in your palace today. I thank everyone who made it possible to be here
including my fellow Rotarians”.
The District Governor, Rotarian Sam Uko stated that Rotary International is a non governmental organisation and has it’s foundation known as Rotary Foundation as where every charitable fund and one thousand dollars donated by the Rotarians goes into.
He further said that the fund helps the organisation to embark on eradication of polio, ensure good living of indigent people in our society and making life easier than it could be for them. “A Paul Harris Fellow is a person who has contributed one thousand dollars or more to the Rotary Foundation to assist the organisation in saving lives all over the world. When you donate to the foundation, you are entitled to be decorated as a Paul Harris Fellow.
You will be recognized throughout the world. We are happy that for the last three years now, we have polio free in Africa. Paul Harris is the founder of Rotary. He made friends that joined him to actualise his aim of the organisation in our communities today and we continue to spread the news” he said.
Speaking during the visit,Igwe Chibudom prayed that it shall be well with all the Rotarians that endeavors to sacrifice their time, wealth and treasure for the well being of indigent people all over the world. In his word, “I’m happy to welcome you in my palace today.
Rotary club is more of dealing with polio and I can’t remember when last I heard that polio is killing our children in our community. Rotary club has helped to eradicate the cause of polio. In fact it a very good development in our families and communities and I’m proud to be a Rotarian. We have very educated young men and women who are willing to make sure that Rotary club is making waves in our community.
Igwe Chibudom said
that Obosiwais a very large ancient community from Ojoto and has been in
existence for the past 100 years. He said “Obosi as the name implies has a
porous land on which the founder came to built on but found out that the sand
could not really hold together and it was named Obosi. It is a fertile
environment for crops. We are supposed to have two local government areas due
to the large land mass we have. Today I welcome the District Governor in our
land including other Rotarians and as a Paul Harris Fellow, I give you the key
to the kingdom whenever you wish to come with your committee.
He further gave
royal blessings to the District Governor praying that God will give him the
wisdom, directive, guidance as well as enlarge his coast in piloting the
affairs of the Rotary in the world which is selfless service to humanity.
The connect
president Rotary club of Obosi, Rotarian Solomon Uzochukwu on behalf of his
club and president general of Obosi assured Rotarians that they have Rotractors
in their School of Health and promised to charter two more clubs in the town.
