THIS year’s edition of the annual Anambra agricultural show will be flagged off today.

Governor Willie Obiano will declare the event open as a sideshow to the ongoing Anambra Trade Fair at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square Awka.

The governor will utilise the event to flag off dry season farming in Anambra State, as part of efforts to invite medium and large farmers to tap maximum benefits from this and other agricultural programmes in the area of mechanised agriculture.

A flagship initiative in this direction is Central Bank Funded Accelerated Agricultural Development Scheme (AADS) and Anchor Borrowers Programme (ABP) which Anambra has remained top-of-the-chart among other beneficiary states.

A release signed by the Commissioner for Agriculture, Nnamdi Onukwuba, invites farmers form all the 21 local government areas, investors and stakeholders to attend the ceremony, adding that the event will kick off at 10am.

The release further states that many made-in-Anambra farm fresh crops and produces will be on display at the fair to show how numerous farmers have benefitted from Gov. Obiano’s agricultural policies to transform farming into money spinner.
