NBA inspects new ultra-modern High Court complex

  • Commends Obiano for reforming Anambra laws

NIGERIAN Bar Association (NBA), Otuocha branch has embarked on  inspection of the Otuocha High Court  Complex still under construction by the Anambra State Government at Umuekete Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area. The branch also enjoined the committee set up by Governor Willie Obiano to reform Anambra State laws.

Speaking during the inspection, the NBA Otuocha branch Chairman,  Benson Ikedigwe commended Governor Willie Obiano for his investments and developmental strides witnessed in the judiciary since he became the state’s helmsman.

He recalled that the foundation stone of the complex was laid by the former Anambra State Chief Judge, Justice Ijem Onwuamaegbu (rtd), adding that the construction work handled by Mr. Emma Ubah of Elmada International Ltd was moving at a very high speed.

“As part of what we need to do as stakeholders in the  justice delivery system, we came to inspect for ourselves the level of progress at the construction work of a high court complex being embarked upon by the Government of Anambra State.

“We commend His Excellency for his quest to give us the best in the judiciary. The work is moving at a very high speed, in fact, we are overwhelmed with the progress so far in less than two months.

“We also appreciate Governor Obiano for setting up a committee to reform Anambra State Laws ably headed by Justice Ijem Onwuamaegbu (rtd). It shows that he is a leader that is concerned about the people’s welfare”, he said.

The duo of the branch vice chairman and secretary, Anthony Okafor and Oluchukwu Udemezue respectively were happy about the present administration’s effort to build conducive courts to create employment and facilitate justice delivery and dispensation.

“The members of the Bar and Bench, other judicial staff, litigants deserve a conducive environment during justice delivery and dispensation. After the structure, the governor has also promised introducing electronic recorders to assist the judges during court proceedings”, they said.

However, the NBA chapter chairman Emeritus and President General of Aguleri community, Hipo Onwuegbuke eulogised Obiano for building the court complex and attracting other developmental projects to the town. He also pleaded with his community members to be law abiding to escape the arm of the law.
