Police nab pedophile pastor



… 65-yr-old man in soup for raping 11-yr-old girl

POLICE in Anambra State, yesterday evening, paraded a 35-year-old for allegedly raping  a minor whose identity was concealed.

The suspect, who was identified as Chukwudi Chukwumezie, also known as Agudo Jesus, WHO  claims to be General Overseer of Mount Zion Ministries, Obosi was alleged to have been involved in previous cases of rape, involving minors.

He lures his victims to his church with prophesy that they had a bright future but were hindered by evil spirits.

Speaking to journalists while parading the suspect, Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed disclosed that the police obtained a medical report showing that the victim had a penetration which lacerated her hymen.

“On 24th September 2019, we got a report from a woman in Obosi police station that the pastor of Mountain Zion Ministry, Obosi had an unlawful canal knowledge of her daughter. Police officers went to the scene, inspected it and victim was rushed to hospital and medical report revealed that her vagina was penetrated and laceration of the hymen of the victim occurred. Police went to the hotel and the evidence seen at the hotel corresponded with what the victim told the police,” Haruna said.

The victim who is presently senior secondary school pupil said she was lured by the pastor into his car after conducting a deliverance session on her.

“I didn’t know what happened immediately I entered his car, but I regained consciousness in a room, and I was naked, and the pastor was on top of me, and there was blood in my private part,” she said.

Her mother who was identified as Mrs. Edith Idika confirmed that her daughter was raped, stating that she had visited the pastor with her daughter when he told her she needed to undergo deliverance.

“I sent my daughter there, especially as the pastor had said that my daughter had bright future, but had something covering her. He even said he was ready to train her for us,” Idika said.

But the suspect denied the allegations, saying he only prayed for the girl and since she was the last person to leave the church, he decided to drop her at her house before quickly heading home.

“When I asked her, she said I had passed her house, so I stopped at Nkwo ATM point since I had to withdraw money to pay transportation for our members who were going to the mountain,” he said.

According to him, he did not have canal knowledge of the minor, insisting that the girl was being used to set him up by another pastor operating at Obosi.

In a related development, a 65-year-old man who was identified as one Ezekiel Adewale is presently cooling his heels in the gulags for allegedly raping an unidentified 11-year-old girl.

He was remanded yesterday on the orders of an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court presided over by Chief Magistrate Abdulhamid Lawal following his arraignment on a one-count charge of rape.

Although the court did not take Adewale’s plea, the Prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leranmo  stated that the defendant committed the offence on November 30, at Efon-Alaaye Ekiti area of Ado Ekiti.

According to him, the offence contravenes Section 31(2) of the Child Right Law of Ekiti, 2012, adding that the defendant had defiled his victim on three occasions after luring her to his house with money.

Issuing a remand warrant on Adewale, Magistrate Lawal ordered that the case file be sent to Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice and adjourned the case till December 18 for mention.
