… N11.6b for USPF
TWO federal establishments yesterday got their 2020 budget approved by the Senate.
They are Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) whose fiscal estimates of about N140,383,591,000 received the statutory legislative approval, and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) whose 2020.budget proposal of N11,594,920,847 was also passed by the Upper Chamber.
The approvals were made in plenary after an adoption of the reports of Senate Committee on Communications.
Chairman of the committee, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who was represented by Senator representing Niger South, Mohammed Bomai, gave details of the NCC’s budget.
According to him, about N39,297,044,000 will go for NCC recurrent expenditure with N20,863,699,000 earmarked for special projects.
This leaves the sum of N8,129,462,000 for capital expenditure, while N64,208,446,000 is captured for Transfer to Federal Government and N7,500,000,000 as Transfer to Universal Service Provision Fund.
Equally while providing details of the over N11billion approved for USPF, N2,354,055,799 is for recurrent expenditure while N196,108,610 is for capital expenditure and N9,044,756,438 for USPF projects and programmes.
On their parts, both the Deputy Chairman of Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Lady Pat Offia and a member of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, Lady Nnonye Udegbunam as well as Director of Education Services in Ministry of Basic Education, Lady Vera Ogbalu stated that Anambra will prove a model for emulation in re-introduction of history in schools.
