Ugwuanyi presents 2020 Budget of N169b

ENUGU State Governor,  Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has presented the 2020 Budget estimate of N169. 567,658 billion tagged,  ” Budget of Responsive and Accountable Government ”  to the  Enugu State House of  Assembly for approval.

Presenting the budget at the House of Assembly,  Governor Ugwuanyi said that the 2020 budget proposal , was 55.2% higher than that of 2019 budget. He said that N100.77 billion was set aside for capital expenditure while recurrent expenditure stands at N68.79 billion.

He said that “the increase in the budget was necessitated by the need to further meet the developmental needs of the people in the area of education, transportation, health and other infrastructure.”

The recurrent expenditure is N68,9Billion, higher than that of 2019 by  69 per cent. Capital expenditure was N400.77 billion while recurrent revenue was N109,8 billion higher than the N96,9billion of 2019.Statutory allocation was N65.65 billion.

Governor Ugwuanyi assured that his government will ensure it grows its internally generated revenue to account for 50 per cent of the state income by 2023.

Responding,  the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Edward Ubosi assured that the house will fast track action on the budget to ensure that it was passed before Christmas.

He commended Governor Ugwuanyi for his good works in the state,  assuring continuous support of the Assembly members to the Ugwuanyi administration.
