Odoji promises normalcy in Umudioka

THE newly appointed chairman of Umudioka Improvement Union (UIU) caretaker committee, Mr. Samuel Chike Odoji, has reassured that the committee would accomplish its assignment in accordance with the terms of reference given them by the state government within the stipulated deadline of their tenure.

Mr. Odoji spoke to the press during the coronation ceremony of a new traditional prime minister (‘Onowu’) of Umudioka, Chief Ben Amuta, recently, and described the event as a significant evidence that peace had returned to the community.

He promised that no stone would be left unturned kin the concerted efforts by the caretaker committee bring back and reconcile all the aggrieved persons and stakeholders in the town, in order to forge a united front needed to move the community forward.

The acting president-general hinted that serious moves backed with articulate plans were underway to conduct a free, fair and credible election of the substantive executive committee to handle the affairs of the community, in due course, which ranked amongst top priorities and crucial assignment of the caretaker committee.

According to him, the caretaker team would strive to accomplish its task within the three-month term of office as directed by the state government , just as he also expressed gratitude to Governor Willie Obiano (Akpokuedike Global) for the opportunity offered them to serve the community,

Mr. Odoji, who is the Managing Director, CEO of Go-Round Limited, a mass transit and solid waste management firm, further urged the Umudioka people to close ranks and cooperate with Onowu Amuta and the interim administration under his leadership in the ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace, unity and mutual co-existence in the town to enhance meaningful progress.

Asked if he would not seek an extension of the committee’s tenure, Odoji remarked that it was not within his power to extend the lifespan of the committee but vehemently insisted that they would endeavour to complete the assignment within schedule.
