Nnewi monarch marks 56th Ofala, 94th birthday

TRADITIONAL ruler of Nnewi, Kenneth Orizu III, has marked his 56th year anniversary on the throne and 94th birthday.


The occasion was kick started with prayer a session conducted by Ven. Vincent Egwuonu from St Thomas Anglican Church, Otolo Nnewi, an archdeaconry headquarters and the home worshipping place of the monarch who is the grand patron of Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council.


Midafternoon witnessed the first outing of Igwe Orizu III and was led amidst tantalizing beat of Igba Eze-Igwe.
After the second and third outings of the Igwe in glamorous traditional attire, the address from the throne was read by the Chairman of Igwe’s Royal Cabinet, Chief Dan Ulasi, where the Igwe appreciated all the illustrious sons of Nnewi for their sumptuous contributions to the auto town. The royal father sued for immediate handling of gully and flood erosion in Nnewi as well as road network which according to him, will create smooth evacuation of factory industrial and products that are many in Nnewi.


He commended Governor Willie Obiano for his visible security measures that had continued to account for huge home coming of Ndi Anambra during festive celebrations like Christmas, New year and Easter.
He commended also the federal government for funding the expansion of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital at Nnewi.
He expressed thankfulness to those who made the 56th Ofala festival and 94th birthday a success especially to those that attended.
