ANPC holds prayer rally,awards best staff



THE atmosphere was serene and melodious as the management and staff  of Anambra Newspapers and Printing Corporation (ANPC) welcomed the new  year with prayers. 

  The event, which took place in the corporation’sy’s headquarters had the presence of dignitaries who graced the occasion. The Mass  was celebrated by  the vicar, St.Thomas  Aquinas Parish, Rev.Fr.  Solomon Anyaorah, who prayed for the progress of the organisation and the state at large.

  Father Anyaora appraised the character of faith, citing example from the Bible story of the sick man. He defined four characters namely Jesus, the crowd, the four persons and the sick man.

He emphasised that faith is a necessary tool to succeed in life’s endeavours .

  The vicar appraised the efforts of the member staff of ANPC and admonished all to work with a sole purpose to accomplish a divine as well as development goals.

 The MD, ANPC, Sir Chuka Nnabuife thanked the clergy for his spiritual guidance and leadership. He used the opportunity to enlighten on the products of the organisation which includes, Ka O DiTaa, Sportlightxtra, National Light Art House and the newly-launched Enterprise Centre of the corporation.

  He cited the possibility that ANPC is on the verge to birth another idea. He enumerated several elements like setting up an ultramodern equipment for the organization to enable it  strive to higher standards and called for the support of all especially members of staff on ensuring there are available jobs for printing and publishing service.s He also encouraged staff  to imbibe the culture of positive productivity by going extra mile in getting jobs for the organization.

   The MD noted that the prayer session was to usher in  a new year in the organisation, which  is one of the core rites of the organisation.

  “One of the things we put in prayer is that National Light will also beget more children. We also have some other services we offer in ANPC and we are visionary that we will blossom. We have National Light Art House, the venture of which people who have creative talents can express themselves. We have commercial enterprise, the commercial arm of our organisation. We call it National Light Enterprise. We join it with the ICT, and hope that this year, the whole sections, including the ICT and enterprise sector of National Light will take up a very strong light with vigor,” he stated.

  “It is one of our cardinal prayers this year. We normally start the year with prayer. We have actually produced two productions successfully since resumption. We started work on January 6. We would have done this prayer on the date. We have done two newspapers edition successfully but we didn’t want this month to pass before we do the prayers.”

  He further recognised our Ibadan correspondence, Stella Obi , who won an award thereby making it the 17th award won by the newspaper. He reiterated optimism to access to facilities like logistics to ease operations.

Speaking at the occasion, SSA on Education to Governor Obiano, Dr  Paul Ifeanyi,while supporting the issues addressed, motioned all to step up to take opportunity of the oil boom times.

  “… Better yourselves. While you’re still young, acquire technical skills, create an environment -friendly situation.”

  According to the intellectual, opportunities are opened to anyone who is willing to do things in more excellent manner.

  Also supporting his views, chairman, NUJ, Anambra State Council, Sir Emma Ifesinachi, eulogised the MD and his management crew and encouraged all to imbibe good working culture.

  “I am proud of this memorable event. It is on record that National Light is the only state-owned newspapers in this nation. It has stood the test of time and will conquer the community in the nearest future. “

 A consultant on Administration in ANPC, Mr. Joseph Obi Onugha commended the managing director for his competency, zeal, and direction on moving the station forward. “ He is someone that does things with fear of God and you can always rely on him. Starting the year with Holy Mass will show you that he is concerned about the spiritual upliftment of staff. We pray that our prayers today will bring more lights in 2020.

  The editor of ANPC, Mrs. Rose Oranye, in a vote of thanks, expressed her excitement as editorial members took the awards of Best Staff of the year. She thanked God for making the occasion a successful one, more so, the managingd Director, the guests, friends of ANPC, and members of staff. She urged workers to always keep up with their good work as there is always room for improvement.

  Highlights of the occasion include the award/ recognition ceremony which saw Izunna Okafor emerging the position for staff of the year while Emeka Chiaghanam won the best staff of the year, 2019. Ebele Offordile was recognised as the best performing out station agent while Nkechi Ikenwoke was recognised for her outstanding performance in reporting.
