A community leader, Nweze Okoli , has tasked youth associations to collectively fight against the social malaise of hooliganism and cultism which have become very rampant in the society.

Ozo Okoli gave the task after supervising the election of a new executive committee of the youth wing of Isiagu Amikwo Union, Awka, recently, and frowned against the escalation of the ugly scourge usually involving the youths which had wreaked so much havoc in the system.

He advised the elected executive team with Mr. Chukwudi Ekwenugo as chairman, to hit the ground running in the implementation of his election promises which persuaded the people to offer him their mandate at the poll.

Chief Okoli further applauded the peaceful atmosphere and maturity exhibited by members of the Isiagu Amikwo Youth Wing throughout the electioneering exercise, even without the police and other security agencies to conduct a free, fair and credible election.

Speaking after the exercise, the new chairman, Mr. Chukwudi Ekwenugo, thanked the people for the confidence reposed on him and other members of the executive committee with a firm promise not to disappoint the community.

The chairman declared total war against impunity, lawlessness and all forms of criminality in the area while more concerted efforts would be channeled to youth empowerment and creation of employment opportunities which he had always done with his private resources over the years.

He lamented that “a lot of work lie ahead of us but my committee will do our best to tackle the challenges and put Isiagu Amikwo on the path of progress and meaningful development.”
