Barcelona And Roma Reach Carles Perez Exit Agreement

FC Barcelona and Roma have come to an agreement over Carles Perez, it has been claimed.

The youngster will be taken on loan by the Italian side with an option to purchase him permanently in June for a fee of $14.3mn, as claimed by Sky Sports Italia and relayed by SPORT, with negotiations having accelerated over the weekend.

The 21-year-old is apparently in shock at how rapidly his circumstances have altered.

Promoted to the seniors from the B team by Ernesto Valverde at the start of the season alongside Ansu Fati, he notched one goal and three assists in La Liga as a revelation under the fired coach and received a bumper contract extension until 2022 for his exploits in September.

Before the end of the year, he was particularly impressive in a 1-2 away win at Inter Milan in the Champions League – Barça’s first-ever at the San Siro – in which he and Fati both netted.

The club’s social media accounts and the pages of Catalonia’s two main sports daily newspapers were awash with talk of ‘Made in La Masia’ when swooning over the pair, and when Valverde’s successor Quique Setien took over the reins, it appeared as if the 21-year-old’s future was still bright at the Camp Nou.
