Mgbachu Nkpor elects new executives

Mgbachu village of Nkpor, Idemili South Local Government Area, has elected new executive to pilot the affairs of their community for the next four years.

  In his remarks, the heir apparent to Oduship, Mgbachu village, Chief Godwin Onwukwe after dissolving the former village leadership that were running a parallel government, said it was time to implement Mgbachu constitution.

  “I thank the Chairman of Mgbachu  Elders Forum, Oboli Joseph Okoro, the Nkpor Development Union(NDU) team, Chairman Nkpor Taskforce, Chief Augustine Udoh and Nkpor Central Vigilante Security, DSS and Police.

  “We want to follow our constitution and bring a lasting peace to the leadership crises to promote progress in Mbachu. I hereby dissolve the former executives on both sides”, said Onwukwe.

  Moreover,  the Vice President, N.D.U, Kingsley Obi representing the president general, Chief Innocent Mbagha maintained that they were present to ensure a peaceful,  free and fair election.

  “We are here to observe the election. The PG promised that his administration will restore peace in all the villages in Nkpor community.”

  Meanwhile, the former village chairman, Mr. Sunday Udoh pleaded with N.D.U to postpone the election to give him more time to prepare for re-election but he was told that his appeal was belated.

  However, the election was conducted through option A4 open ballot system. The Mgbachu village chairmanship position was won overwhelmingly by Arinze Idemili with 66 votes while his opponent, Sunday Muoghalu scored 23 votes.

   The Mbachu village executives included: Chairman-Arinze Idemili, VC-Sunday Moughalu, Secretary-Felix Adibe, Asst Sec-Ikechukwu Ejikeme, Fin Sec-Nzube Anikpe, Treasurer- Chukwuka Obidigbo.

  Others were; Pub Sec-Nnanna Nwosu, Provost-Ekene Ezeabata, Asst provost-Nwachukwu Okolo and Auditor-Amaechi Onwukwe.

  In his acceptance speech cum vote of thanks, Arinze Idemili thanked everyone for giving him the opportunity to serve his people and promised to attract developmental projects to Mgbachu village.

  “I am grateful to God and all my people for giving me this mandate. I promise to grade this Mgbachu road, put street lights on it and build a village hall”, said Idemili.

  The new executive was inaugurated by Chief Onwukwe in the presence of N.D.U, and the returning electoral officers, Innocent Ilechukwu and Chinedu Obidigbo.
