FG, AKSG donate relief materials to Iwuokpom fishing settlement

RELIEF materials worth millions of naira have been donated by the Federal and Akwa Ibom State Governments to the 379 victims of Iwuokpom fishing settlement in Ibeno Local Government who were affected by the January 2, this year, fire outbreak.

  The Chairman, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) who is also the Akwa Ibom State Deputy Governor, Moses Ekpo, at the presentation said the federal and the state governments were in sympathy with the victims of the Inferno, being the reason for the donation of the first batch of the relief materials to ameliorate their suffering.

  Ekpo, flanked by the member for Esit Eket and Ibeno State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Dr. USoror Akpanusoh and the Chairman, Ibeno Local Government, Mr. Hum Udoh announced the donation of 127 bags of rice, 38 bags of beans and 127 bags of garri to the victims as relief materials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).

  He also announced the donation of 127 bags of maize, 127 bags of wheat flour, 379 bundles of roofing sheet, 379 pieces of mosquito nets, 379 pieces of wrapper, 379 bags of cements, 183 pieces of ceiling boards mattresses, among others as relief materials to the victims to cushion the effects of the unfortunate incidents.

  The number two citizen in Akwa Ibom while entrusting the distribution of the relief materials along the distribution list to the Chairman of Ibeno Local Government, emphasised that each bag of rice be shared to three victims of the fire disaster.

  A community leader, Chief Isaac Akpakam while responding on behalf of the Iwuokpom community expressed appreciation to the federal and state government for coming to the aids of the community.
