Obiano has encouraged people with talents – Nwankwo

Paul Nwankwo is a social entrepreneur who specialises in online blogging and scriptwriting.

WHAT is your assessment on how the entertainment industry has fared in Anambra State under the administration of Gov Willie Obiano?

Well, the governor himself is a good entertainer. He is a man that doesn’t joke with entertainment. He has done so well in ensuring that entertainers who hail from the state come home to do their thing thereby promoting originality. An example is the IKOLO Music Concert held last two years that featured all music stars from the South East of Nigeria. Last December, another concert held in the state. It was replete with the presence of many artists like Flavour, Umuobiligbo, Zoro, Gozie Okeke, Mercy Chinwo, etc.

Additionally, he changed the life of those actors  in the music and film industries respectively. You will agree with me in the case of Ernest Azuzu who fell ill and needed medical attention .The governor, through his wife, reached out to him. His bills were settled by the government and the actor is back on his feet bubbling with vitality. I respect Obiano for taking steps to better the lives of all in this sector.

Do you think the governor is doing well in youth participation in politics?

Yes, of course. Even a blind person can see with the third eye what the Willie Obiano-led administration is doing to keep youths active in the role of politics.

Honestly, I will say he is really perfect on that aspect, because I know many youths that were jobless and he restored their lives through the provision of certain political positions to accommodate the youths. Do you know how many youths he gave the mandate to be leaders? Some of them hold positions of Special Assistants (SA), Senior Special Assistants (SSA), etc. I can vouch that job opportunities in Anambra State improved a great deal during his years of exemplary leadership.

Obiano encourages people especially persons with high-skilled talents. Through the Ministry of Indigenous Arts, Culture and Tourism, he has been able to set up viable platforms to project the youths to the world stage.

What are your expectations for the future in improving the sector in Anambra state?

Anambra State needs to buckle up on its security surveillance; steady street lights and organising concerts to attract tourists into the state, as well as encourage more investors to invest their resources with assurance of bountiful returns.
