I was shocked to mention global lockdown in my January prophecies – Adeboye

GENERAL Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has said he was afraid of revealing the current global lockdown caused by the deadly Corona Virus in his January, 2020 Prophecy  as shown to him by God.

The general overseer, who spoke during an online ministration that was beamed live to the teeming members of the church across the country and beyond, Sunday, on account of recent directives by the federal and state governments that schools, churches, mosques and businesses should remain shut to contain the spread of the deadly virus, disclosed that God revealed to him earlier in the year that the global economy would be locked down.

Adeboye had at the beginning of the year predicted that the world in 2020 will be like a child in convulsion characterised by natural disasters such as fire outbreak, hurricane, earthquake and tornados and subsequently declared the annual 50 days of fasting and prayers, which ended February 29, 2020.

Speaking on the global lockdown that greeted the outbreak of the pandemic Coronavirus, he hinted that God actually revealed the lockdown to him but that he did not want to disclose it because of the possible negative implication that might trail such revelation.

“The Lord told me that the whole of the year will be like a compulsory holiday but I thought it was going to be like the compulsory holiday that greeted the September 2001 bombing of the World Trade Centre in New York by terrorists also called the 9/11.

“You know that if I made such a revelation and an event like the World Trade Centre bombing occurs, the Interpol will come after that person with the belief that he was aware of when it was being planned.

“Major nations and the world powers are being locked down. Smaller nations will also be locked down because God wants to prove to the world that he is the Almighty. He wants to tell the world that He is in full control and that heaven is His throne and the earth his footstool and that as soon as He has proven that to the world, the pandemic will subside like the Ebola virus but will not be destroyed”, he said.

According to him, since the beginning of the year 2020, much more people have died as a result of Malaria and accidents across the world but such deaths have neither attracted the kind of attention given to the pandemic nor led to a global lockdown, describing it as the noisome pestilence.

He told some Christians that might be wondering why God was allowing  Satan to cause such pain in the world, citing the Book of Job in the Bible, Chapter two, where the devil sought and obtained permission from God to torment Job, His faithful servant.

Adeboye, who took his ministration text from Psalms Chapter 91, urged true children of God not to panic as God had assured that they would continue to dwell in His secret place and also abide under His shadow.

“Just like Ebola, Coronavirus will subside and not die. A lot of prophets have prophesied that a heavy rain will come and wash it away and I said Amen. Others prophesied that it would die on March 27 and I also said Amen but some others said it will die and I said that ‘na lie’. It will not die but it will subside to the background just like Ebola”, he insisted.
