The All Progressives Grand Alliance in Anambra state has made a clarion call on citizens of the state to comply strictly with the “stay at home” order of the federal and state governments in order to curtail the spread of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

In statement issued in Awka, the state chairman of APGA, Sir Norbert Obi, particularly commended the measures taken so far by the Anambra state government to prevent outbreak or dispersal of the deadly disease.

Sir Norbert described the measures as proactive and responsive, pointing out that the Isolation Centers established at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Awka as well as the Onitsha General Hospital, NYSC orientation camp, Umuawulu-Mbaukwu and other towns are clear evidences of the state government’s readiness to tackle all eventualities and contingencies that might arise from the global scourge.

He also enjoined traders to resist temptations to make undue profits so as not to worsen the present socioeconomic hardship brought about by the COVID – 19 crisis.

The Anambra state APGA chairman expressed gratitude to Governor Willie Obiano, who is also the chairman of the Anambra state Action committee on Prevention of Coronavirus, for donating bags of rice to elderly persons in the one hundred and seventy nine communities in the state, adding that Onitsha and Obosi communities got double shares because of the high population density of the two towns.

He equally enjoined Ndi Anambra to sustain their fervent prayers for God’s intervention in this trying period, and expressed hope that the pandemic would soon come to an end.

Sir Norbert advised politicians to desist from attempting to score cheap political points with the COVID 19 pandemic and extolled the efforts of the Obiano administration in enlightening the citizenry on the dangers of the disease, and for ameliorating the plights of the masses in the state.

The state APGA boss also expressed gratitude to well meaning individuals and corporate organisations who have started making donations to the Anambra state Action committee on prevention of coronavirus, pointing out that they would forever be remembered and appreciated by Ndi Anambra.
