COVID19: FRSC monitors compliance on border closure in Anambra

IN RESPONSE to the order on inter-state border closure to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country, the Federal Road Safety Commission has taken further proactive measures to ensure that government directives are complied with hook-line and sinker.

   This necessitated the monitoring and enforcement exercise embarked upon by the Anambra State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission across the borders of the state.

  In accordance with the release made available to journalists by the sector Public Education Officer , RC Paschal Anigbo , the Sector Commander , Andrew Ayodele Kumapayi visited the border between Anambra and Enugu at Amansea Awka-North, where the sector commander found out that there was absolute compliance to the order

  The release stated that,” in a bid to ascertain the traffic situation on the closed borders in Anambra State as directed by the Corps Marshal, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi and also to ensure compliance of Joint Enforcement Team to the directives of the state government, the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State, CC Andrew A Kumapayi, went on assessment visit at the borders to monitor the level of compliance to the border closure detectives.”

  “The borders include: Amansea Border (Anambra-Enugu boundary), Niger Bridge (Anambra-Delta boundary) and Amorka(Anambra-Imo boundary).

  “The release has it that the sector commander will continue to carry out routine check on the borders to ensure there were no breaches within the stipulated period , stressing that the coronavirus is deadly and everybody should support government efforts in containing the contagion.

  Also in another development, the Federal Road Safety Commission in Anambra State has debunked alleged stories of lackluster attitudes by the corps towards educating motorists on coronavirus prevention.

 This was also contained in the counter released by the sector public education officer, RC Paschal Anigbo.

  The release stated that,” On the contrary, FRSC has released several measures to assist in curbing the spread of COVID-19 and road users are constantly enlightened on the pandemic. “
