Anambra steps up sit-at-home monitoring

THE government of Anambra State is rolling out modalities to step up effective monitoring and enforcement of the on-going sit-at-home order which is put in place to combat further spread of global COVID-19 pandemic.

  Anambra State Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Christian Mmadubuko stated this while speaking as leader of a team that called at Anambra and Enugu States boundary in Omasi, Ayamelum Local Government Area.

According to him, government will continue to monitor all boundaries between the state and its neighbours to ensure total compliance on closure orders.

Mmadubuko explained that it is aimed at ensuring that the boundary closure is strictly adhered to by motorists and stave off COVID-19 Anambra State.

Also speaking, Transition Committee Chairman for Ayamelum Local Government Area, Benjamin Onyeabor said that the council has embarked on sensitisation campaign to educate the people on the virus by informing them of all necessary measures in place for their safety and proctection.

Earlier in an address, Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment, Obi Okoye commended Gov. Willie Obiano for taking proactive steps in walling off COVID-19 pandemic from Anambra State.

The team stopped at Onitsha where they monitored compliance to boundary closure on Bridge Head, where they warned those selling food items on the road to desist forthwith.

There were also paramedics stationed by Anambra State Government at the Bridge Head to check people’s temperature.
