In Delta, man slumps, dies in market

A MAN who is yet to be identified has reportedly slumped and died on Tuesday at the popular market in Igbudu, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

  National Light gathered that the man had gone to the market to purchase some food stuff when he suddenly slumped and died.

  According to an eye witness who pleaded anonymity, “the incident occurred around 9am as the man was at the market to buy foodstuffs and after buying pepper and tomatoes, he wanted to buy fresh fish and was directed by another buyer to where fresh fish was being sold. While he was going to where he would buy the fish, he suddenly slumped and died.

  “He might have died as a result of hunger as he was seen moving like someone who had not eaten for days,” the source explained.

  However, a polythene bag containing food items, including tomatoes, pepper, onions and others was found beside his corpse.

  The remains of the deceased has been evacuated and deposited at a morgue in Warri.

  When contacted, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Onome Onovwakpoyeya confirmed the incident, saying that “officers from Area Commander Warri was there on visiting round when the man bought something at the market, slumped and died.”
