Bishop Ezeokafor urges prudent management of funds donated for COVID-19

ANGLICAN Bishop of Aguata Diocese, Samuel Ezeofor, has called for the prudent management of all the funds donated by individuals and groups in the on-going fighting against coronavirus to ensure accountability.

Rt Rev Ezeofor who is also the National Chairman of the Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion, (EFAC)  stated this at Bishop’s Court, Ekwulobia, in Aguata  Local Government Area of Anambra State , while delivering his 2020 Easter Message, called on Nigerians to turn to God for solution to the myriads of problems facing the country.

The prelate used the occasion of Easter to advice those occupying leadership positions to emulate the humanity of Jesus Christ in serving mankind.

Bishop Ezeofor maintained that without the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, there will be no hope for Christians.

He called on the faithful to use the period of Easter in building bridges of trust and good neighbourliness.

The bishop, however, opined that it is wrong to ask for the shutting down of churches in the name of fighting the coronavirus pandamic.

He maintained that what is more important is to ask the church to maintain the social distancing, using sanitizer for her worshipers, in addition to stopping shaking of hands,  among others.

Ezeofor, who is the most senior Anglican Bishop in the Niger Province, stressed the need for the sanctity of the church to be maintained as the only place where powers are received through prayers,

“The church is the only place where powers are received through prayers, hence asking for its shut down because of COVID-19 is not acceptable, Bishop Ezeofor said.”
