A POLITICAL organisation comprising supporters of Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has donated N1million to the  Anambra State Taskforce Committee on COVID-19.

The group, which is known as Obiano Apostles’ Movement for Consolidation, directs that the donation be channeled into Anambra COVID-19 Relief Fund.

Giving further breakdown on the amount donated,  Obigwe clarified that N500,000 was donated  in the name of the Wife of Anambra State Governor and Founder of Caring Family Enhancement (CAFÉ) initiative, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano while the other N500,000 was  donated in support of Prof  Charles Soludo.

According to him, the governor’s wife is the  “undisputed Mother Theresa of Anambra State.”

He explained that the N1million naira cheque was given to the association by one of their Patron and that donating the money in the name of Osodieme and Soludo is an agreement they reached with their Patron.

Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, Secretary to Anambra State government, thanked the  group for their kind gesture.

He promised on behalf of the governor, the judicious use of all the money donated to Anambra State government Taskforce Committee on COVID-19 and assured on the commitment of the governor in containing the spread of the virus in the state.

Similarly, one of the support groups rooting for Prof Charles Soludo’s emergence as the next governor of Anambra State has made a donation of N360, 000 to the Anambra State COVID-19 fund.

They are known as Youths Earnestly Seek for Soludo (YESS).

Presenting the cheque to Secretary to the State Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu at Government House, Awka, Convener of YESS, Nelson Omenugha said their donation was to support earlier N10million donation made by Soludo for the same cause.

According to him, nothing is too small or too big to be thrown into fight against COVID-19 in support of Gov. Willie Obiano’s remarkable pivotal roles.

“We need to have a state first before we can do politics, a state first before we can do business and a secured state before we can conduct every other affair. So it is Anambra first and we are here to show our own solidarity and support.

Governments are useful in times of crisis. They can address particular problems on a scale that no one else can. There’s also the danger that powers consolidated by governments during crisis won’t be given up when the crisis ends.

Therefore, it is imperative that all – civil associations, churches, businesses, and families – unite and support Government to succeed.  It’s Anambra first and always. May Anambra succeed” he said.

Apeaking after receiving the cheque, Prof Chukwulobelu described YESS as young men and women passionate about the progress of Anambra State.
