Nollywood stars mull new stage order after pandemic



COVID-19: Nollywood actresses, Lala Akindoju and Beverly Naya, have expressed concerns on how the pandemic will affect movie making, questioning whether actors will still be allowed to kiss or hold conversations in close proximity.

  Akindoju stated that life of a performing artist will need to be restructured as Nigeria and the world continues to battle with the global pandemic, coronavirus also known as COVID-19. “It has become obvious that the world may never go back to how it was before the arrival of the deadly virus.”

  Speaking through his Tweeter handle, on movie making and how coronavirus will change the game, Naya questioned if actors would still be allowed to kiss or hold conversations in close proximity while shooting movies when lockdown is lifted and business certified to recommence.

  Agreeing to this notion, Akindoju stated that there may be need to restructure the lives of actors as it can no longer be business as usual.

  In another vein, actor, Gideon Okeke has expressed strong reservations on how the virus will affect the industry. The talented Nollywood actor equally showed concerns about actors being susceptible to the virus due to their craft, describing acting as a ‘contact sport’.

   Addressing the issue of shooting kissing scenes amidst the spread of the virus, the Tinsel actor and father of one suggested  that actors should present their health certificate before shooting kissing scenes.

  Singer, Zlatan Ibile recently got heavy criticism for what many people have described as his lackadaisical attitude towards the fight against coronavirus in Nigeria.

Zlatan, posted a video indicating he was bemused with the development. This prompted his tweet with 4 laughing emojis. This did not sit well with presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, who then cautioned him, reminding him that the situation was a matter of life and death, just as the president had said in his recent speech.

  Meanwhile, Nigerian authourities are not taking anything for granted in the fight against COVID-19 spread.
