Lagos: 68yr old woman delivers baby

AN ELDERLY woman of about 68 (name withheld) has been delivered of twin children at University Teaching Hospital Lagos.

Disclosing this through a release signed by the hospital’s Chief Medical Consultant, Prof. WC Adeyemo, “The Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) has announced the delivery of a set of twins from an elderly couple and the delivery is the first in Africa.

  According to further report made available in the medical facility official social media online blog, the woman got pregnant for the first time and was successfully delivered of her twin children.

  The hospital noted that the new mother got pregnant through In-Vitro Fertilisation, popularly called IVF. LUTH said that she was delivered through an elective cesarean section at 37 weeks on Tuesday.

  The IVF and embryo transfer were done at an outside facility. She was thereafter referred to LUTH at early gestation and subsequently managed till term. This is the first in LUTH, Nigeria, and Africa!

  In another development, Nigerian woman has also welcomed baby girl in Lagos State after some police officers helped her to hospital at 3am as the lockdown directive continues.
