NASS members, Reps resume plenary tomorrow

THE Nigerian Senate will resume plenary session tomorrow by 10:00am.

This was confirmed by Senator Ajiobola Bashiru from Osun state in a post on his verified Twitter handle at 11.55pm on Sunday.

This is after five weeks of break to enable the containment of the coronavirus pandemic. The senate and the House of Representatives went on break on March 24 before President Muhammadu Buhari announced lockdown of the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos and Ogun states.

Also, House of Representatives had announced that it would resume plenary tomorrow after about five weeks break occasioned by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Clerk to the House, Patrick Giwa, made this known on Sunday night in a memo made public via Twitter.

The Green Chamber went on break on Tuesday, March 24, to allow members go to their constituencies to educate their constituents on the pandemic.

It was however gathered that the leadership of the House decided to resume to consider the review of the 2020 budget as requested by the President and other emergency requests.

“This is to inform all members of the House of Representatives that the House will now resume plenary session on Tuesday, April 28, 2020, at 10 am. Members are advised to take note of the new resumption date.

The COVID-19 Guidelines approved by the Federal Government and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and addition Guidelines developed by the House will be sent to Members’ pigeon holes for collection on resumption. Staff and  Members’ aides are to work from home and will be notified when needed for any special assignment,” he stated.
