Ekiti father rejects son for disobeying COVID-19 lockdown

A MAN in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State has refused to let his son, Obademi who returned from Lagos to enter his house, because he disobeys over fears that the son might have been infected with coronavirus.

  The father, a retired operative of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), refused granting the graduate son entry into his house because he had repeatedly urged him to stay behind in Lagos but the young man in his late-20s refused and paid over N3,000 for a trip from Lagos via Abeokuta, Ogun State to Ekiti.

  In the issue which went viral on social media, the father was caught on camera exchanging hot words with law enforcement agents with him to take his son home but he refused despite the frantic search.

  The video showed the bespectacled father warning his son to head back in Lagos till the coronavirus crisis ends. He was angry that the son ignored the warnings he gave him on phone and traveled all the way from Lagos to Ogun, then to Ekiti State where he met a stiff resistance from his father.

  According to the father, since his son disobeyed the advice, he can only admit him into his home only after he had isolated for 14 days and confirmed ‘negative’ by appropriate authority.

Even repeated persuasion by law enforcement agents, who did temperature check of the son in the film and it showed 36o, could not dissuade the livid father.

  He also said that he does not want to be part of those that will complicate coronavirus issues in Ekiti State just like the 29-year-old pregnant community health worker who died from coronavirus after sneaking into Ekiti from Lagos State where he works.

  Lagos which is the epicentre of COVID-19 outbreak in Nigeria has almost half of  the 1532 cases in the country.
