… Operators jubilate, commend Obiano

COMMERCIAL tricycle or keke riders in Anambra State have been granted waiver for two-month daily ticket fees as part of economic stimulus to alleviate some harsh effects of COVID-19 pandemic in their businesses.

The payment was being made as part of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state government.

The waiver took no time to elicit commendation and jubilation from keke operators in Anambra state who laud Gov. Willie Obiano for assisting them in containing the ravaging effect of the global pandemic.

According to State Chairman of Transport Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN), Chief Sylvester Obiora, government deserves commendation for doing greatly in reducing economic implication of carrying on business in the new order.

He spoke today in Ogbaru while distributing face masks to his members.

“Gov. Willie Obiano has waived two months of the IGR payment from us because of the biting Covid-19 pandemic. From April to end of May, government is not collecting any money from keke operators. We pay N350 every day for each keke and I thank the governor for his support and encouragement.

We are distributing the face masks to support the government and for keke riders to abide by the policy of government on covid-19, it is real and if one says it is not, let it not start with keke people.

Any member who goes contrary to the directives does so at his own risk as the association will not be held responsible for such misbehavior,” he said.
