Bridge-head Housing Estate embarks on house-to-house fumigation



THE Housing Estate community, Bridge Head, Onitsha in Onitsha South Local Government Area of Anambra State under the leadership of Afam Udeogalanya has began house-to-house and environmental fumigation exercise.

   Addressing journalists, the president general Afamu Udeogalanya stated that the fumigation exercise was to contain coronavirus and mosquito bites in their community and as well to sanitise their environment .

   His words “Malaria is a serious sickness and major issue in Africa even before the present virus pandemic. The illness which is caused by mosquito bites is also a deadly disease which has killed millions of people but because it has a vaccine, people don’t regard it as serious unlike coronavirus”. He noted.  

  He commended state and federal governments on their proactive measure to the people to cushion the effect of sit at home, stating that he as well gave out gift items to widows and indigent ones, even as he advised the affluent individuals to assist as much as they could in order to support those who are hungry in the society.

   Contributing, the secretary general of the community, Mr Obianaebere described the fumigation exercise as a welcome development in their community, pointing out that the fumigating of their environment was initiated by the executives of their community to ensure total eradication of mosquito and other diseases.

   He observed that even before the advent of coronavirus, they have been battling with challenges of mosquito bites, even as lady Chinelo Muonwe attributed mosquito challenges in their community to dirty environment and commended Udeogalanya and his lieutenants for their good work.
